The Waves 04:09

about

The new work continues to pull with my flirtation with jazz and other genres of music, and continuing to explore new contexts in which the instrument, the rabab, could be heard.

At this point there is little distinction between my instrument and my voice. I sing what I play first, and I play as if I were singing. I am more focused on crafting melodies, versus composing technically advanced things, which I feel I did to an extent earlier in my writing. Its more of an organic flow now.

The waves are what I’ve been riding the past few months, but the sun has broken through the clouds, and I can feel it’s warmth again. Learning to be happy, to find happiness around you. We’ve weathered the storm, and now we ride the waves.
