Smekermann I can't help but feel like the cover features a white guy with a mullet and a very confused expression as to what's going on in this here cassette tape.

What's going on is that there are some really beautiful (and rocken) traditional Afghan songs here, sometimes accompanied by field recordings of city streets. This builds atmosphere really well, adds grittiness - though the last song ends on about 5 minutes of nighttime ambiance, which is a tad excessive imho. I appreciate the concept, however. Favorite track: Sohbat Kabul Kawe.
